Golf Rules 2019: 20 most important changes
- Miscs:
- Search time is now 3 minutes
- Measuring drop, longest club exluding putter
- Embedded ball can be relief anywhere through course
- Loose impediments can be removed anywhere (hazards inclusive)
- Double hit now count as 1 stroke
- Dropping a ball out of bunker = 2 penalty strokes
- Water hazards - now called « penalty areas »
- No penalty if:
- Touching ground in penalty area
- Touching accidentally sand in bunker is permitted
- Ball moved on putting green after being marked
- Ball moved accidentally on putting green
- Ball moved while searching it
- Ball unintentionally hitting player or equipment
- It is not allowed / prohibited to:
- Take stance on wrong green
- Position a club for alignment
- Get assistance from caddie for alignment
- Putting green:
- All damages to green can now be repaired
- Flag may be left in hole while putting from the green
- Ball wedged against flag stick and side of hole is deemed as holed
